The fear behind “Not being ready yet”

The fear behind “Not being ready yet”

“I’m not ready yet.”

I hear this phrase often.
And I understand.

Because starting feels scary.
Especially when you don’t know where it’s going.

But often there’s something else behind that phrase.

Not: “I’m not ready yet.”
But: “What if I fail? What if it doesn’t work? What if I’m disappointed?”

And that fear is understandable.
Because change brings uncertainty.

But what we forget is this:
Not starting is also a choice.
And that choice also has consequences.

The consequence of waiting is staying where you are now.
With the same patterns. The same unrest. The same doubt.

And that’s often more painful than the fear of starting.

So the question isn’t: Are you ready?
The question is: Are the costs of waiting greater than the fear of starting?

And only you can answer that question.
