The perfectionism mechanism

The perfectionism mechanism

Perfectionism isn’t a pursuit of excellence.
It’s a disguised fear of failure.

Leaders develop this mechanism early on.
Because perfection delivers results. Recognition. Safety.

But in transition, this mechanism works against you.

Because transition is messy.
It’s not knowing. Making mistakes. Searching.

And that feels like failure to someone accustomed to perfection.

So what happens?
You procrastinate. You keep preparing. You wait for perfection.

But perfection never arrives.

And meanwhile, you remain stuck where you don’t want to be.

Perfection isn’t the solution.
It’s the problem.

Because perfection demands control.
And transition demands letting go.

Not of your standards.
But of the underlying fear.
